What to Look for

Sensory Processing deficits can be broad & similar to other diagnoses. Here are a few typical signs:

Overly sensitive/tantrums to movement, sights, sounds, or textures

-Ex: Refusal to wear certain types of clothes

-Fear of unthreatening movement or heights

  • Under reactive to stimulation

-Ex: Doesn't notice pain or bruises​

  • Seeks out sensory stimulation​ 

- Ex: Constant movement without a purpose

  • Appears clumsy or awkward

  • Intelegent, but struggles with learning​

- Ex: Innovating new play ideas

  • Avoids participation in any physical activities or sports
